Classes And Workshops At Weaverville Fine Art Studio

Mark Henry at Work

Mark Henry, landscape artist and art instructor, is now offering classes and workshops at his new Weaverville studio location - Weaverville Fine Art Studio. Mark's influence in landscape painting is inspired by the Old Masters techniques and also by the Hudson River School of Art. Mark blends different techniques into what he calls "Modern Classical Realism Interpreted". Building on the traditions and skills begun in ancient Greece, through the Renaissance and 19th and 20th centuries, his goal is to educate the public about classical drawing and painting and why it is still relevant in today’s world.

With an emphasis on learning to draw (either for the beginner or for the practicing artist who would like to get back to the basics), Mark will take students from the fundamentals to a place where they can incorporate their knowledge into their own unique style of artistic expression.

My studio here in Weaverville, NC is a tranquil environment in which to create. I am in awe of our beautiful surrounding area and strive to capture each vista and scene with realism and a touch of impressionism. I participate annually in the WNCAP (Western North Carolina Aids Project) Raise Your Hand art auction. In 2015, my piece entitled “Cregg Farms SC” brought in the highest bid in the show. Additionally, my painting “Redmond Road” was the highest selling painting in the 2015 RiverLink art show and benefit.

Classes Are Small At WeavervilleFineArtStudio For a Reason

Weaverville Fine Art Studio

Mark Henry has intentionally designed small classes and workshops so that everyone gets individualized instruction. This gives Mark the ability to personalize lessons so that each student can focus on and correct any obstacles or issues he or she may be having. Ultimately, the student will develop his or her own way of conveying an intention onto paper or canvas.
Students are learning new techniques and improving their knowledge base with oils, acrylicspastels, and charcoal and we are all having fun!
Possibility Of Second Class? I have had some inquiries into starting another class during the week. Since the Tuesday class from 10:00-1:00 is now full, if there are six more people who would like to participate, I will consider adding a Thursday class. Please contact me if you are interested.

New Class Forming For Photoshop Elements

Several people have asked me to teach a class in Photoshop Elements specifically geared toward artists. If there is enough interest, I would be happy to form a workshop for this great product from Adobe.  I’ve been using Photoshop for many years, and this is a new, very user-friendly version. PC Magazine says “ Adobe Photoshop Elements keeps adding more complex photo-manipulation tools and features, yet keeps making them easier to use.” Again, if six people would like to learn about the benefits of using this program, I will put together a series of classes.

I also look forward to meeting you in person for consultations, inquiries, or just conversations about art. Please call first to make an appointment. 828-242-7402
